NYC Homecoming
Celebration
AUGUST 16-22
The Hip Hop Museum, “The Official Record of Hip Hop,” commemorates and celebrates the 48th anniversary of the birth of the culture with a history-making free concert series, “It’s Time for in Hip Hop NYC Summer 2021.” In partnership with the City of New York, and IDEKO, the THHM is bringing it back to where it all began, to the boroughs during NYC Homecoming Week August 14th – 22nd. Hip Hop lovers far and wide know “what time it is, and it’s time for Hip Hop!” The THHM’s musical celebration is a “comeback” from the darkest days of the COVID pandemic.
From August 16th through August 20th, it’s time for Hip Hop from the beaches of the “Boogie Down Bronx” and Staten Island, to the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. An array of Hip Hop and Hip Hop-influenced artists (Latin freestyle, dance, techno, and funk) representing every era will take to the city’s outdoor stages.
This celebration of Hip Hop culture born in the Bronx reflects the resiliency, strength, and creativity that inspired a global movement. Hailing from NYC’s parks, playgrounds, and stoops, to stadiums and arenas worldwide, so many of these Hip Hop legends have come home to New York City. Each show promises to be monumental. You don’t want to miss it.
