Business of Music Institute

Mission and Vision
The Hip Hop Museum (THHM) curriculum and programming to impact underserved communities through the implementation of a curriculum, and museum that employs the five elements of Hip Hop culture- DJin, MCing, Breakin’ (Breakdancing), Writing (Tags and Aerosol art), and Knowledge- in an immersive journey through Hip Hop history spanning from the 1960s to the present. The THHM program will run successful education programs for students 6-12. Since our inception THHM’s educational youth-based programs have focused on effective ways to build social capital and the valuable skills needed to facilitate upward mobility for the youth we serve.

Programs
Business of Music Institute
A 5-week summer camp for youth in grades 9-12. Students will learn about and explore roles in the music industry, business planning, and financial capabilities. The program will also feature guest speakers from the music industry.
Topics include:
- Radio & Internet Broadcasting
- Concert Production
- Starting a Record Label
- Business Management
- Marketing & Promotion
- Financing
Students will meet three days a week, two days in the virtual classroom and one day in the virtual Board Room.
This program will run July -26 – September 2 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12 pm to 3 pm Eastern time. Please convert to your local Central and Western time zones.
THHM is accepting applications for the Business of Music Institute. Seats are limited. The deadline is July 24, 2022.

Educational Tours
Shoot Cameras Not Guns
Shoot Cameras Not Guns is a program based on a community outreach model that trains students in the community to identify conflicts in their community, resolve conflict before it spirals into violence, and create art through the medium of photography or film.
